There's lots of micro-breweries around Montreal, in the Eastern Townships for example, and the beer in generally available in most grocery stores; Griffin is an especially good one, brewed in North Hatley, I think. As for good restaurant/pub beer locales, Alexadres is a good bet and there is another one, on either St. Denis or St. Laurent that has over 100 varieties on tap, though lots are European. When I remember the name, I'll get back to you.
