who employs me
I am a staff writer with CTV.ca News. That operation is part of CTV News, which is of course nestled into CTV Inc. and CTVglobemedia.

I don't speak for my employer on this blog. I don't comment about the internal affairs of my employer.

Re: The Alberta shootings
by Patti May
In an era where we are finally recognizing the damage cigarette smoking is doing to both smokers and those around them I don't think making the supply of pot legal is either wise or that it would have averted tragedies like the death of the four RCMP officers. The bigger question becomes how to establish a greater respect for lawful authority and those who exercise it to the point that people like those who have murdered these officers wouldn't dare to raise a weapon against another, especially police officers. That question has been with us since the dawn of time and sadly will remain with us for a long time to come. I have a suspicion that the pending decriminalization of pot possession and use is emboldening those who wish to make profit off the market. I agree with decriminalizing pot to a misdemeanor however I don't agree that it should be legalized.
