Re: 'I will NOT erase history' - in the short term
by
Anonymous
I'm posting this pseudonymously, so I realize it might not make it through. That's all right.
The legacy of the CBC lockout blogs is difficult to quantify, and if I'm being honest, painful to consider. Shelagh Rogers was drunk like all the rest of us in 2005. Drunk on the exploration of a new medium. Tod was drunk, too. These experiments, I dared to hope, would not only transform the inner workings of CBC, but as she suggested, put the public back into public broadcasting.
That never happened, of course. Even the feeblest of our dreams were never close to being realized.
I was not happy when Tod did, indeed, erase history. Who knows why he did it? The CBC Drone did the same thing. I wasn't happy with that either.
In the years of blogging afterward I was hounded and threatened. It was not an easy path to take. I was frustrated with myself, my blog, my audience, and the CBC. I waited for more to join me, but they were few and far between.
Maybe Tod was right after all.
