Re: Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.

Very even-handed look at Conrad, under the circumstances, Bill.
When I read the comments of the jurors, and how unimpressed they were with Radler, I wonder whether the prosecutors are going to extend every consideration to him in the plea bargain. He was not an effective witness.
I was not surprised that Radler doesn't use e-mail, and had no proof in writing of what he said was Black's order to skim off non-competes. I am surprised that Radler, who knew everything about Hollinger's business and negotiated all deals, was so vague about some of the details on the stand. When I was researching my book, a publisher of a small Ontario daily told me this story, which illustrates how micro Radler managed:
The publisher received a phone call at 5 minutes after 5 on a Friday afternoon. It was Radler, calling from the Hollinger jet as he flew over the province. When I asked what the purpose of the call was, the publisher shrugged. "I guess it was to find out if I was still at my desk."
