Hey Jim: Yeah, I've come across stuff that suggests some evangelicals are taking environmental issues more seriously. About a year ago, some top U.S. evangelicals got behind the Evangelical Climate Initiative. But before that, Pat Robertson had been saying there's no need to do anything about climate change because Jesus would be coming back. However, he has since gotten with the program. :) I guess if you really believe, however, you'd just see us as instruments of God's will, and so we can't really speed it up or slow it down. We're just helping things along at the pace He intended. :)
