A Harris-Decima poll conducted for The Canadian Press finds a slim majority of Canadians would support a newspaper bailout -- 51 per cent for, 46 per cent against.

Eighty-seven per cent of respondents said newspapers play an important role in the news media -- and frankly, they're right. Newspapers largely set the news agenda in their communities.
