Danish newspapers have reprinted a caricature satirising the Prophet Muhammad which sparked violent protests across the Muslim world two years ago.
They say they wanted to show their commitment to freedom of speech after an alleged plot to kill one of the cartoonist who drew 12 caricatures.
Three suspects were held in Denmark on Tuesday "to prevent a murder linked to terrorism", officials said.
The cartoons were originally published by Jyllands-Posten in September 2005.
Danish embassies were attacked around the world and dozens died in riots that followed.

Reprinting these cartoons does not show their commitment to freedom of speech. Aside from showing the world once again that they believe it's acceptable to insult Muslims, all it does, at best, is show their commitment to standing up to bullies. I really wish these twits would learn the difference. Re: Re: Some Danish newspapers reprint 'Muhammad' cartoons

Personally, I don't see the reprinting as helping. It does nothing to build bridges to moderate Muslims.
At the same time, I'm definitely not down with blasphemy laws that would make such cartoons illegal. I would prefer that publishers use some judgment and not be pointlessly inflammatory when showing they won't be bullied. Trackbacks
