Talk to the Newsroom
Bill Keller, executive editor of The Times, will answer questions in this space about the newspaper and the news. Questions will be selected from e-mails sent to asktheeditors@nytimes.com, and Mr. Keller will answer as many this week as time permits. Afterward, these discussions will continue with other Times editors.
In this country, The Globe and Mail has gone heavy for online chats, with the legendary Angus Frame, editor of globeandmail.com, and his executive editor Jim Sheppard going online to answer readers' questions about the website. Oddly, both used their prison photos to illustrate the chat's preamble text. :)
(I just said that to see if anyone at the Globe is reading . :) )
CBC's editorial cappo di tutti cappi Tony Berman has answered some reader mail online. The Globe's editor-in-chief, Edward Greenspon, has a regular newspaper column (don't recall an online appearance), and the Toronto Star's public editor Sharon Burnside holds forth semi-regularly (A challenge: Find her column online without using the search box!) in a newspaper column.
However, will someone trump other news orgs and put their editorial supremo behind a keyboard answering live questions?
