Blake Lambert, who had been freelancing out of Uganda for a number of news organizations, has essentially been declared not welcome. Apparently the government was unhappy with his reporting.
An excerpt from the BBC story:
The move has been condemned by the Committee to Protect Journalists. Several Ugandan journalists have been in trouble with the police recently.
The government restricted reporting on criminal charges brought against opposition leader Kizza Besigye.
In recent months the authorities had declined to renew Mr Lambert's accreditation.
'Ridiculous'
When he returned to Uganda on Thursday after visiting South Africa, he was put on the first plane out of the country.
"Lambert is generally an unwanted person here," Robert Kabushenga, director of the government's media centre, told Reuters news agency.
"He consistently misrepresented and misreported the situation," Mr Kabushenga said.
"We asked him to provide a more balanced outlook on Uganda, but he didn't listen to us."
Minister of Internal Affairs Ruhakana Rugunda told the BBC that there was no clamp down on the media in general - just action against an individual, who had harmed "state security".
Mr Lambert described the charges as "ridiculous".
