Bev Oda told the Toronto Star on Friday she'd like to see CBC head Robert Rabinovitch appear before Parliament (which re-opens on Sept. 26) and update a House committee on the lockout.

From the article:

"Hopefully, the lockout will be over, and he can give us a report on the impact it has had," Oda said. "If it isn't, he can give us a report on the situation."

Oda, a former CTV vice-president and CRTC commissioner, said the longer the lockout lasts, the more critics question the need for a public broadcaster. Oda said the lockout has stymied the CBC's plan to cover this weekend's 25th-anniversary celebrations of Terry Fox's run.

The committee that would hear Rabinovitch is the House Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage, which is chaired by Liberal Marlene Catterall. It is alreay skedded to hear from new CBC chair Guy Fournier.
