View Article  Goodbye Mr. Jennings :(

Peter Jennings, the Canadian-born anchor of ABC World News Tonight, left this mortal coil Sunday night. The one-time smoker succumbed to lung cancer.

He worked briefly for CTV early in his career. There's an obit special at CTV.ca. ABC News has gone wild, as one might expect.

And the BBC's John Simpson also offers some kind thoughts -- and some insights into why Jennings was such a superlative television journalist.

According to David Halton, who just retired from the CBC, Jennings, who made about $15 million US per year, was a responsible dog owner who dutifully scooped his mutt's poop when he walked it in Central Park and other parts of Manhattan.

Personally, if I made that much coin, I'd still walk my dog -- but I'd pay someone else to do the scooping. :)
