More than 40 Nepalese journalists were taken into custody by authorities in the troubled Himalayan kingdom.
An excerpt from the BBC story:
The journalists were detained as they tried to approach the royal palace.
King Gyanendra introduced restrictions on reporting after assuming direct control of the country in February.
The king said his takeover was necessary because politicians were corrupt and had failed to tackle the country's Maoist insurgency.
Broadcast ban
The journalists scuffled with police as they tried to break through a police line set up to prevent them leaving an exhibition centre.
Movement on roads around the palace had been restricted since the royal coup.
The Federation of Nepal Journalists was protesting against the continuing ban on news broadcasts on FM radio stations.
The government says the FM news encourages Maoist rebels.
