CNN's Bill Schneider says they didn't even know Belinda Stronach was pals with Bill Clinton before they did a story on Canada's political soap opera this week.
But now that they do know, expect more U.S. media attention paid to the new Liberal human resources minister, he said. "Any story that even touches on the Clintons is big news in the United States."
Schneider was talking to CTV Newsnet's Mike Duffy Friday night.
"Normally our political unit doesn't notice anything outside the United States because there are so many circus acts here," Schneider joked.
The drama surrounding federal politics this week -- A razor-thin vote! Covert meetings! Betrayed lovers! -- undoubtedly shot up Canada's news value around the world. As Schnieder put it: "Boy, what a story." He named it his Political Play of the Week.

Our home and native land spent a lot of time on the BBC Online home page these past few days, and that's a very rare event. Usually there's not even one story about the Peaceful Kingdom on the Americas home page.
And indeed, there was no Canada story this evening. Fellow citizens: Our 15 minutes are up! :)
