I had to go pick up my taxes from my acccountant this afternoon, who is located near York Mills and Yonge St.

I thought the quickest way to get to work was go north to Sheppard, take the subway over to Don Mills station, then bus it to CTV.

However, I was running late (story of my life), and a cab became a necessity.

While running around looking for a cab (took me 25 minutes at Fairview, a busy shopping mall), I overheard this exchange:

A father and his approximately five-to-six-year-old daughter are walking out of the mall hand in hand.

The little girl is holding some just-purchased gizmo. While she is gently mock-flying it through the air, she is also vigorously critiquing it -- well, within the limits of a precocious five-year-old's abilities.

The father sighs.

He then says, in Russian-accented English: "It's official: Your new name is now 'Spoiled Kid.'"

Spoiled Kid smiled like she had won.
