I tripped around to some of the usual suspects and saw what they had to say about the testimony of Jean Brault finally being made public.
Keep in mind it's only current to the time I published and that someone could have updated five minutes later. With that proviso:
Warren Kinsella - Nothing from the old Chretien loyalist initially. But he did say this early Friday morning:
I don't know what to think. Plenty of big mouths will be in the morning papers, in a few hours' time, with all sorts of pronouncements and prognostications. Adjectives in abundance. No qualifications, no doubts.
Me, I dunno. Apart from the fact that it is way, way worse than I expected - and apart from the fact that a referendum, with a YES result, is a growing possibility - I don't know what to say.
Inkless Wells - His Paulness makes fun of stereotypical headlines.
My Blahg - Nothing.
CalgaryGrit - Made fun of "explosive Gomery testimony" on April 5.
However, at BlogsCanada's eGroup, he wrote this:
I don’t think we’ll know what this means for a few days yet. ... In my mind, the magic number is 35. When the AG’s report broke last February, the Liberals bottomed out at 35%. If they fall bellow this number, they’re in trouble and the opposition may be motivated to go to the polls.
PolySpy.ca - Calls Chretien a "thieving sack of shit". Has a lengthy collection of news story links.
Andrew Coyne - Has now posted a few Gomery items, including his April 9 N-P column.
Colby Cosh - A brief post saying the publication ban has been partially lifted.
Meatriarchy - Some blog triumphalism; some RWB buddies of his were interviewed by the MSM! Woo-hoo!
It was a great first step. I hope that our alpha bloggers can keep up some momentum and become even more influential in their interactions with the media and with Canadians as a whole. ...
Watching the National tonight (yes I have actually been watching the CBC this week) it was interesting to see the people of Quebec reacting to the news that not only were the Federal AND Provincial Liberals on the take but the PQ as well. You got a real sense that many were feeling that there was really no difference between any of the parties.
Small dead animals - And finally, a big thankyou to the talk radio stations here and across Canada who featured efforts and risks taken by bloggers and sent traffic flowing to our sites. Talk radio and the blogosphere are a natural fit, and we'll both benefit if we can find ways to enhance the relationship.
... I plan to sit back and let the pros take over the real job of reporting on the testimony, so we bloggers can go back to our day jobs - keeping watch for the "spins of omission" soon to come from the usualsuspects, once the realization settles in that The Natural Governing Party is in serious trouble of being supplanted by Extremist Conservatives.
One final thought.
Ed Morrissey of Captains Quarters should be nominated for the Order Of Canada.
If you find (or have written) something interesting about Gomery, please leave a link in the comments section below. Mucho gracias.
