The Toronto Star's Antonia Zerbisias -- or Zerby, or alternately, "Fat Tony" to her blogging friends from the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy -- wrote about sharing a pint with some of them a few weeks ago:
An excerpt:
Two weeks ago, I descended into the belly of the right-wing beast.
Actually, it was the basement of a Queen West pub, but considering that I was crashing a party of mostly conservative bloggers, many of whom have made sport of me and my scribbling for years, it could have been a horror show.
In attendance were Kathy Shaidle (relapsedcatholic.blogspot.com) who has pronounced me a "leftist dupe," "menopause girl" and "fat AND stupid," as well as Debbye Stratigacos (debbyestratigacos.mu.nu) who has accused me of lacking "class, restraint and compassion" in my columns, even as she cheers the war in Iraq.
But topping my hit list were Bob Tarantino (letitbleed.blogs.com), a man who has called me everything from "Fat Tony" to "the peroxide wonder," and the evening's guest of honour, Damian Penny (Damianpenny.com), the 30-year-old lawyer who blew in from Corner Brook, Nfld. To him, I am a "defender of conspirozoids" and of "Jew-haters."
