As I rode The Rocket on the way home from work early this morning, I got around to reading the feature sections of Saturday's The Globe and Mail, where I found yet another George Stromboulopoulos interview.

Sorry, no link. Gotta pay to play when it comes to Globe columnists.

One key bit of information for some who follow Strombo's personal life is that he has a long-time girlfriend: Jasmine Tuffaha, a 27-year-old TV producer with CBC.

Anyways, here's a few excerpts:

His show is clearly an experiment. Mostly, it's George and his big, brown teddy-bear eyes and widly gesticulating arms taking us through a composition of newsy bits, from politics to sports to entertainment and a few wild-card interviews thrown in for good measure. ...

... The program is not about what happens so much as what Stroumboulopoulos finds interesting and how he reacts to it.

THAT'S BLOGGING!!!

Yet, when you go to The Hour's website, what do you see?

NO BLOG!!

You do see Strombo in what could easily be a stock Lou Reed album cover pose.

There are video clips, some static information about the show. There is an extensive contact us e-mail form that besides the usual form fields, asks "What's going on in the world that you'd like to know more about?" and "What did you fight about at dinner last night?"

But it's very one-way communication flow and also, for a supposedly experimental show, very old skool.

Since George likes to deal, blogger-style, mostly with dribs and drabs of information, why not do that on the Web as well?

Right now, the only place he deals with viewer feedback is towards the end of the hour when a trusty assistant comes out to read some e-mail, which George riffs on.

So to wrap up, we have a 2005-style, youth-oriented current affairs show on TV with a 1997 website.

Wacky.
