It appears Halle Berry was purr-fectly bad in her role as Catwoman -- so bad that the Razzies crowned her worst actress of the year who starred in the worst film of the year!

But in a completely unexpected move, she showed up at the Razzies (no "winner" ever does that -- with one exception)  -- and parodied her best-actress acceptance speech for Monster's Ball!

Apparently she got a standing O. :)

Here was her explanation for doing it: "When I was a kid, my mother told me that if you could not be a good loser, then there's no way you could be a good winner," she said. But then she added: "I hope to God I never see these people again!"

Her cool factor (which plunged in my world when she said she wouldn't work in T.O. during the SARS outbreak) has just shot right back up again!

Catwoman also picked up Razzies for worst director and worst screenplay.

Here's a sample from the AP story carried on CTV.ca:

"It's kind of like the old Disneyland commercial. Halle Berry, you just won an Oscar. What are you going to do now? I'm going to play ... Catwoman?'' (Razzies founder John) Wilson said.

"Don't get us wrong. She's a very talented actress, a very beautiful woman, who just made a mistake. We're not trashing Halle Berry as a human being. We're only saying, we're so sorry you chose to do this.''

Arnold Schwarzenegger got a 25-year achievement award of sorts for the most Razzie nominations without actually winning one.

Since the Razzies marked their first quarter-century this year, they recognized the worst of the worst:

Musical: From Justin to Kelly (2003); nominated for eight, "winner" of one

Comedy: Gigli (2003); nominated for nine, "winner" of six

Drama: Battlefield Earth (2000); nominated for nine, "winner" of seven

If you go by the "tomatometer" readings at rottentomatoes.com, which is the percentage of positive reviews a film gets, here's how the above three shake out:

From Justin to Kelly: nine per cent (57 reviews) (note: Same as Catwoman)

Gigli: seven per cent (150 reviews)

Battlefield Earth: four per cent (99 reviews)

I think we can safely go with Battlefield Earth as the worst movie of the last quarter-century. :)
