Here is something I wrote along with my colleague Phil Hahn, for CTV.ca. It reviews the first half of Election 2006.
The Liberal collapse in Quebec is the biggest eye-opener. According to a Strategic Counsel poll, the Liberals could be down to as few as seven seats after Jan. 23. It's conceivable that Prime Minister Paul Martin might not take his own seat.
Ontarians are getting more comfortable with Conservative Leader Stephen Harper, and that spells trouble for Martin.
However, the Liberals are doing well in B.C.
CTV's Craig Oliver thinks the Tories have run a better campaign so far. However, despite that, the Liberals maintain a slight lead, which suggests to me that Canadians aren't quite ready to toss them from power.
