I'm standing in line at a bank's automated teller. I'm third from the machine.
A rumpled looking guy in his late 40s, holding a briefcase and looking world-weary, asks the guy immediately behind him if he had much banking stuff to do.
"No, just a quick withdrawal," was the guy's reply.
So the guy let him cut ahead and use the machine first.
I'll allow you to absorb that for a moment.
I'm at the end of the line, and the Good Samaritan extended the same courtesy to me.
When I finished and was leaving, I said, "Thanks again. That was very gracious of you."
The guy looked down and grunted.
I took that as evidence I was still in Toronto.
