I'm standing in line at a bank's automated teller. I'm third from the machine.

A rumpled looking guy in his late 40s, holding a briefcase and looking world-weary, asks the guy immediately behind him if he had much banking stuff to do.

"No, just a quick withdrawal," was the guy's reply.

So the guy let him cut ahead and use the machine first

I'll allow you to absorb that for a moment.

I'm at the end of the line, and the Good Samaritan extended the same courtesy to me.

When I finished and was leaving, I said, "Thanks again. That was very gracious of you."

The guy looked down and grunted.

I took that as evidence I was still in Toronto.
