The NYT has reviewed two documentaries about Dubya to be aired Sunday night. For those of us in Soviet Canuckistan, the only real choice will be the CNN offering.

MSNBC isn't available here (perhaps there'll be an online version, but I suspect not).

What writer Alessandra Stanley found most striking about them was the absence of visual material from Bush's younger life. Despite his Animal House ways in college, there is no footage of him doing his best Bluto Blutarski imitation.

He really didn't become a true public figure until he became governor of Texas in 1994, although his ownership role in the Texas Rangers baseball team would have given him some profile.

Stanley also thinks the CNN piece does a much better job of evaluating the role of spirituality in Bush's life -- and of 9/11 in shaping his presidency.

CNN's The Mission of George W. Bushairs at 8 p.m. ET and PT, and 7 p.m. CT.
