That honour to the weighty tome -- primarily written by Daily Show host Jon Stewart, Ben Karlin and DJ Javerbaum with some other show writers -- comes from Publisher's Weekly magazine.
Here are some of the nice things said about America: The Book (subtitled Democracy inaction) in an article carried on CTV.ca: In announcing the award Monday, Publishers Weekly called the book "a serious critique of the two-party system, the corporations that finance it and the 'spineless cowards in the press' who 'aggressively print allegation and rumor independent of accuracy and fairness.'"
The book is chugging along nicely atop the NYT bestseller list.
I've got a copy. It's pretty much like the Daily Show itself: Brilliant and hilarious at times, less so at others, but always engaging.
It's also really browseable. In that sense, it would make a great doctor's office book. :)
But if you're looking for Christmas present ideas at this late date, and the someone you're shopping for likes the Daily Show's worldview, you could do worse!
